As a professional small-scale railway maintenance machine, the Internal Combustion portable tamping machine (commonly known as "Little Bee") is designed for ballast tamping work in railway turnouts and busy lines during train intervals. With its compact structure, light weight and easy operation, it is an essential tool for efficient railway track maintenance, widely exported to global markets with reliable performance and competitive advantages.
The tamper is an integrated independent hand-held device, composed of gasoline engine, vibration damping device, transmission shaft, vibration body and handle. It is free of long cables and heavy flexible shafts, ensuring convenient transportation, quick track entry/exit and flexible operation, which greatly improves work efficiency in narrow or busy railway sections.

An eccentric iron with a certain mass and eccentricity is installed in the lower pick body connected to the tamper head. Under no-load condition, the output shaft of the gasoline engine drives the eccentric iron to rotate at 8300r/min, generating a centrifugal force of 4.2kN. When the tamper head contacts the ballast, the ballast around the tamper head also participates in vibration and forms a certain range of flow. Under the combined action of the downward insertion force and the vibration force, the ballast under the sleeper is rearranged to achieve the purpose of tamping.
The internal combustion portable tamping machine is suitable for tamping railway ballast beds and other granular materials. It achieves ideal tamping quality for tamping operations where the track lifting amount is more than 30mm.
Note: This equipment is not suitable for tamping compacted ballast beds.

Operation Stage |
Specific Operating Steps |
|
Pre-use Preparation |
1. Check and fasten all bolts and threaded connections of the machine. If any abnormality is found, stop using it immediately and handle it in time. 2. Use a mixing pot to mix gasoline and 2-stroke engine oil at a ratio of 25:1, shake well, and add to the fuel tank. Use 92# gasoline and Great Wall 2-stroke motorcycle oil (specification: FC or above). 3. Check the oil level of the impact mechanism, and add SAE15W-40 diesel engine oil if it is insufficient. 4. Check whether the tamper head is worn beyond the limit. |
|
Gasoline Engine Start & Operation |
1. After checking to ensure the machine is in good condition, judge whether it is a cold start or hot start, and start step by step according to the prompts on the operation panel. Pay attention to the hand oil pump, air damper and pressure relief valve. 2. For hot start, the air damper must be fully opened to prevent the spark plug from being wetted by excessive gasoline mixture. Press the pressure relief valve before each start. 3. Hold the throttle with one hand and pull the start rope quickly with the other hand. After the gasoline engine starts, slowly put back the start handle and open the air damper. 4. After starting, idle for 2-3 minutes to lubricate all parts of the gasoline engine. 5. Hold the tamper handle, turn the throttle to the maximum, press down the tamper to perform tamping operation. Do not press too hard or press to the bottom. Keep pressing for tamping. Do not twist the tamper left and right during tamping to avoid damaging the shock absorber spring. 6. When changing the tamping position, release the throttle and lift the handle. |
|
Shutdown & Storage |
1. After tamping, turn off the engine and get off the track in time. Lift it out of the limit. When walking on the road shoulder, retract the single running wheel into the support tube and lock the fastening screw. 2. Prevent fuel from spilling when transporting the machine and refueling. 3. After use, store the vibrator in a dry place with the flexible shaft hose in a straight state. |
