Rail Expansion Joints Rail Expansion Adjusters

1. Brief introduction:

Rail expansion joints, also known as temperature adjusters, are critical special track structures designed to mitigate thermal deformation differences between rails and bridges and release longitudinal thermal forces in railway track systems. They are indispensable for large-span bridges and long-distance continuous welded rail lines, ensuring safe and stable train operation in extreme temperature environments.

Our rail expansion joints are independently developed and manufactured, complying with domestic and international railway standards. They have been applied in key high-speed railway and cross-river bridge projects, delivering reliable performance for global railway infrastructure projects.

2. Core Functions

  • Absorb and compensate for telescopic displacement of rails and bridge girders caused by temperature changes, preventing rail buckling, fracture, or track misalignment.
  • Maintain smooth gauge and alignment of the rail line, reducing wheel-rail impact and wear during high-speed travel.
  • Transfer longitudinal forces efficiently, protecting the track-bed and bridge structure from excessive stress.

3. Key Features & Types

  • Structural Designs: Available in straight, broken-line, and curved-point rail types. Curved-point rail adjusters are the preferred choice for high-speed railways, offering superior ride comfort and lower wheel-rail friction.
  • Telescopic Capacity: Customizable in 300mm, 600mm, 1200mm variants to match the maximum displacement of bridges of different spans.
  • Applicable Scenarios: Suited for ballasted and ballastless tracks; widely installed at beam ends of large-span steel girder bridges, cable-stayed bridges, and suspension bridges, as well as transition sections between continuous welded rails and bridges.

4. Advantages

  • High-precision sliding guidance ensures stable and smooth telescopic movement.
  • Corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant materials extend service life, reducing maintenance frequency.
  • Customizable solutions to meet the requirements of different line speeds (from conventional railways to 350km/h high-speed railways), track structures, and climatic conditions.
